Curated by Sudhakar Khambe, the son of Subedar Khambe, the single-galleried museum tells the story of the Mahar Regiment through rare photographs and artefacts that include shoulder titles and badges, manuscripts, caps, medals and uniforms of the regiment. Located in Ambedkar Sanskrutik Bhavan, the museum shares space with the Arya Nagarjuna Museum.

The Mahar Regiment is very well known in the Indian Army, and is notable for its service in World War 1 and the Afghan War. The museum spans 2000 feet and portrays the bravery of the Khambe and the Mahar Regiments. The museum hosts a wide variety of medals, gallantry awards and rare photographs of the regiment during the various wars that were fought by them. The museum also possesses a copy of the letter that was given by Jawaharlal Nehru to the regiment. The curator of the museum says that the museum was made to motivate youngsters to join the Mahar Regiment.
