The Southern Command Museum is situated within the premises of the National War Memorial, in the heart of one of Pune's greenest areas--the Southern Command Cantonment. It primarily revolves around the history and achievements of the Southern Command Wing of the Indian Army. It also showcases the equipment that has been used by Southern Command over the years like their uniforms, ammunition, vehicles, tanks, and guns.

The information in the museum comprises of the history of Southern Command, the battles that have been fought by them, the accolades that have been won by them, the geographical changes in their distribution and the leading generals and the outstanding performers in the army. Immense importance has been laid on the Indo-China War and the Bangladesh War of 1971. Patriotic songs play continuously in the background of the museum.

Tanks and military aircraft have been exhibited in the outdoors, and the museums comprise of 4 large galleries, several paintings, and rare photographs, a corridor that has all the important flags of the Indian Army, a movie theatre, ammunition gallery and a working paintball area where everybody can practice their aiming and shooting skills! The names of martyrs in various wars have been etched on the walls around the museum.

Getting there
The museum lies in the Southern Command Defence Area. It is most easily accessible by cab and auto rickshaw. The closest bus stop is Southern Command, however, the bus frequency is quite low.
