Established in 2004, the District Archaeological Museum, Nellore comes under the management of the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Andhra Pradesh. The displays at the museum include dioramas of the quotidian ways of living of pre and protohistoric man; their tools of agriculture and objects related to burial practices. Coins, terracotta figurines, arms and weapons and bronze and porcelain objects constitute the other exhibits. In an outdoor gallery sculptures and archaeological artefacts from the Satavahana (2nd Centure BCE) and post-Vijayanagara period (17th Century AD) are showcased on pedestals.
