Chitralaya is an art gallery-cum-museum located in the premises of the Besant Theosophical College in Madanapalle. The college is one of the oldest colleges in the Rayalseema region of Andhra Pradesh [1]. The museum, established in 1920 by Dr. James H. Cousins [2], houses artefacts such as Southern India paintings and sculptures, copies of Ajanta frescoes and wall paintings from the Cochin state [3]. The museum also has an excellent library and film shows and lectures are conducted after college hours at 1800 hrs [4].
